Installation Site
Solar panel installation is suitable for home or businesses. Solar PV Installations work best on south facing roofs, however they can work on any roof or space that receives sunlight for most of the day. If the area for the panels becomes overshadowed, by trees or other buildings etc, during the day then this will decrease the efficiency of the installation and may make it unsuitable. Flat roofs are also suitable.
Solar Panels can also be installed on Garages and Sheds with strong enough roofs, and installed at ground level.
Installing on a Roof
Solar panels are not excessively heavy but your roof must be strong enough to take their weight, especially if the panels are placed on top of existing tiles, our surveyor will assess this for you.
A typical 3 bedrrom house will normally have enough room for a 2.2kw system. This will normally consist of 12 pv panels requiring 16 square metres.

Planning Permission
We recommend checking if planning is required with your local planning authority.
Planning is generally not required except for in conservation areas or if it is a listed building.
